Two of the finest match anglers in the land pulled off a stunning comeback to win a prestigious silverfish league.

Guru-backed aces Frankie Gianoncelli and Steve Ringer teamed up to compete in the Bait-Tech Feedermasters pairs league at Nottinghamshire’s Hallcroft Fishery and they sat in fourth going into the final round.

With the winners decided on overall weight and with a plethora of talented anglers involved, a league win looked unlikely for the duo at the start of the day.

They clearly refused to be beaten though, with Frankie bagging 29lb 3oz from Moat Pool on short range cage feeder tactics, with Steve putting 31lb 2oz in his nets from Croft Pool. That gave them a 60lb 5oz total on the day – the highest day catch of any pair throughout the whole tournament.

Once the maths was done it was confirmed they had achieved the unthinkable and clawed it back to win the league with a 186lb 15oz total, beating the second place duo Lee Kerry and Will Freeman by just 2lb 4oz.
