The latest qualifier for the Fish South tournament was staged at Surrey’s Willinghurst Fishery and it was former footballer Jimmy Bullard that topped the field.

Drawn on peg 46 of John’s Lake, the ex-Fulham, Wigan and Hull City star arrived at a swim full of cruising carp and perfectly executed a plan to mug them on the long pole.

He ended the day by placing 275lb on the scales, to comfortably beat second placed Pete Upperton who recorded 199lb from peg 1 on Old Lake. Both men will now compete in the tournament’s semi-final.
