An angler has spoken about how fishing helped rebuild his relationship with his brother after years apart, following the tragic loss of their younger sibling.
Darrell Atkins has been a keen angler for over 30 years, and while his brother, Daniel, would often go with him when they were younger, his interest in fishing waned in his teens.
“Fast-forward 25 years and, after the passing of our younger brother, Jack, angling has brought us back together and we’ve started going again," Darrell explained to us.
“I’ve been taking Daniel to some spots on the Grand Union Canal near our homes in Watford for a few after-work sessions, and on one of these trips he managed to winkle out this pristine chub of 6lb 8oz on freelined meat.
“The catch is better than any of my results, but I don’t care – it’s lit a fire in him to get out even more.”
