Following the success of the last year’s UK Barbel Masters, the team behind the event have decided to offer even more anglers the chance of competing this year.
The match, which carries a £5,000 top prize, has gone from strength to strength after being taken over by Liam Willis in 2024, with tickets being in hot demand.
Held on the River Trent at A1 pits, the match expanded last year to a format in which there were two 24-hour qualifiers, with 100 pegs on each, ahead of a 50-peg final.
“Due to the popularity of last year’s event, we’ve added a third qualifier for 2026, which will also be a 100-peg event,” organiser Liam told us.
“These three qualifiers will take place between September 3 – 6, with the 48-hour, 50-peg final being held on Friday October 2.”
Alongside 19 cash prizes, there will also be goodies from the event’s sponsors up for grabs.
“There will also be a prize for the biggest barbel landed,” Liam added.
“Additionally, we have moved away from the live draw for tickets concept this year due to the time it takes to organise.
“Instead, all tickets will be available on our website.”
