Over the last decade, Andrew Reynolds has been searching for one of the Dorset Stour’s huge but elusive barbel, and on a recent session he completed his mission by banking this fish scaling 17lb 4oz.
It’s the ‘bigg’un’ from a stretch that’s just three miles from his house, and one he often cycles to in the summer months.
With mild conditions rolling in, Andrew felt it was worth paying the river a visit, so he arrived at 8am for a three-hour session to coincide with a high tide.
The fish came on his only bite and fell to a 12mm Robin Red pellet fished alongside a PVA bag filled with halibut pellets and a few broken boilies. It beats Andrew’s PB by over 5lb.
