After a two year absence due to Covid, Daiwa's trade show made a welcome return to the angling calendar. The Angling Times were on hand to have a look at some of the key launches from the tackle giant in the coming months.

Here are our tackle editor, Mark Sawyer's, pick of the best...

Tournament-S Match and Feeder Rods

This new range of rods is set to replace Daiwa stalwart Tournament Pro range.

The new rods feature completely redesigned blanks with a softer more cushioned feel with handle lengths tailored to the rod’s tactical specification.

There are 10 rods in the ranges consisting of five waggler rods and five feeder models.

Aimed towards the natural venue angler, Daiwa’s existing Airity range is to be steered more towards commercial match scene anglers.

Rockin Roller

Based on the original Rockin Roller design this revamped version has wider width rollers, a moveable centre roller and inwardly angled side rollers to ensure your precious pole can’t be blown off the roller.

The unique rocking motion transfer forward or back moving weight more effectively to provide a greater spread of weight distribution compared to a standard fixed roller.

Low-level ground spikes are ideal when faced with hard ground or high banks. The multi-position legs can easily be adjusted with a simple push button and a telescopic cam-locking system.

A padded zipped carry bag completes Daiwa’s best ever pole roller.

N’ZON EXT Feeder

Adopting rod technology commonly seen in the carp market, these four (10ft – 13ft) new N’ZON two-piece feeder rods feature an extendable butt section.

Key features includes cork EVA handles with Armlock, high modulus carbon build and are supplied with two carbon quiver tips.

The retractable butt section allows the rods (even the longest 13ft model) to be stored with the quivertips in situ, providing a compact storage solution.

22 Whisker Reel

There weren’t many new reels from Daiwa this year, but what they did have was a real show stopper.

The new 22 Whisker, which looks uncannily similar to the top of the range and heftily priced Basia, features a new QDM drag system that has similar properties to the original Daiwa QD system but with a little more scope when finite adjustments are needed.

The reel also comes with three spare spools requiring different line loading capacities giving the reel an abundance of tactical options.

The even better news is its price – you can pick one up for well under £300!

At under £300 we expect the new 22 Whisker reels to be a huge hit with carp anglers

Accessories

Daiwa aren’t always noted for their accessory items but there were a couple of real handy little products on show which caught our eye.

The EVA Pole End Caps were a particular favourite! They come in four sizes 48.6mm – 43.7mm, and are designed to replace the traditional hard plastic caps that comes on all poles.

They are easy to remove in all weathers and the ribbed design help to protect your pole rubbing against tube sides or other poles when inside hard case holders.

The cleverly designed N’ZON Dual Rear Rod Rest has an open profile top chamber with smooth inner arms that allow you to not only drop your rod in quickly but also remove the rod quickly when targeting fast biting fish.

The gripped bottom chamber allows you to secure your rod in position which is ideal when savage bites from species such as carp are expected.

A great idea from Daiwa - Mark was massively impressed with these new EVA Pole End Caps
