Daiwa SLR Comp

We’ve teamed up with Daiwa to offer one lucky Angling Times reader the chance to win a rod of their choice from the brand-new Tournament SLR Feeder range.

Additionally, there are 10 runner-up prizes of a 300m spool of the revolutionary Daiwa SLR monofilament
line in a breaking strain of their choice.

When it comes to long-range feeder work, the name SLR (Super Long Range) has been synonymous with performance for years.

The brand-new Tournament SLR series takes things to another level. There are six models in the range – from the punchy 11ft 90g model that defies convention by hitting 80 yards with ease, to the 13ft 150g version built for the largest natural venues and the heaviest of feeders.

What makes these rods so special isn’t just their casting power, it’s their accuracy too.

Daiwa’s X45X full-shield bias carbon technology all but eliminates blank twist, so where you aim is exactly where your feeder lands.

Add in HVF Nanoplus carbon with nano resin technology for incredible strength-to-weight ratio, V-Joint Alpha ferrules for seamless bending curves, and lightweight American Tackle Ti anti-tangle guides, and you’ve got one of the finest feeder fishing rods around.

Little touches like Fuji VSS reel seats, a cork/Duplon Armlock handle with Handlock butt grip, and a hook keeper ring add comfort and practicality. Each rod comes supplied with three graded quivertips to suit different situations, from delicate bream bites to full-blooded carp takes.

Daiwa’s new Tournament SLR line is a Japanese-engineered monofilament packed with cutting-edge features, including UWR (Ultra Water Repellent) technology that stops water soaking into the line.

This ensures the line will fly off the spool smoothly, cast further, and maintain its performance, session
after session.

It’s also slightly heavier than water, helping it sink quickly, but without the tendency to drag down and keep sinking like some heavyweight feeder lines. There’s reduced stretch for improved bite detection, enhanced abrasion-resistance, and superb linear and knot strength. Clever colour breaks are built in to help you hit the same clip distance every cast – a huge bonus for accuracy.

Available in 0.185mm (5lb), 0.205mm (6lb), 0.235mm (8lb) and 0.260mm (10lb) diameters, each 300m spool is enough to fill two reels.
