SCHOOLBOY Harrison Huthwaite got his angling career off to a dream start when he banked a massive 7lb 4oz chub on his first-ever time fishing a river.

The 12-year-old from Nottingham was legering 8mm halibut pellets in the margins of the Trent at Newark with his dad Paul when his rod hooped over and he connected with the impressive fish.

Unsurprisingly, Paul revealed that Harrison now can’t wait to get back to the river for another session.

“His river-fishing career really got off to a flier, and his chub beat my own personal best by over 1lb!” he said.

“He went on to catch two small barbel, both around the 5lb mark, and his arm was sore by the end of the day. But that didn’t put him off, and he now wants to fish with me all the time!”
