It takes some anglers a lifetime to catch a 2lb-plus roach, but young Lilly Laming has already achieved this most wanted angling target.

Her father Elliott told us how she did it...

“My daughter Lilly and I enjoyed a great session our local Warwick Reservoir, targeting its resident tench and roach.

“It was a grey, overcast day with strong winds, but that didn’t stop Lilly. She fished around 20 yards out with a simple leger set-up, using a 6ins braided hooklink with a 10mm wafter hookbait. After having a few good tench to around 5lb, the roach went on the feed.

“Lilly had three to just under 2lb before hooking what she initially thought was a tench but what actually turned out to be this 2lb 9oz roach, which she played excellently.”
