No matter what sort of fishing you do, a 2lb roach is one of angling’s ultimate prizes, with many never achieving the landmark.
But young Miley Ball has just smashed that lofty target with this roach of 2lb 9oz, and she’s only seven years old. Fishing with her dad James at a lake in Surrey, the pair were hoping for carpwhen the huge redfin picked up their 10mm yellow pop-up.
“We knew there were a few big roach in there, but when the rod went off, Miley thought it was a small carp,” James said.
“But, as it neared the bank, she shouted that it was a big roach! I explained to her that people fish all their lives for one like that, and that she was very lucky. She’s going to struggle to beat it!”
