A trip to the Hampshire Avon was fruitful for Gavin Barrett, who used a homemade boilie to bank this 16lb 7oz barbel.
Arriving mid-morning, Gavin caught a 7lb 7oz chub in the middle of the day, before moving into a swim he fancied for barbel.
“As the light started to fade, I had two single bleeps on the alarm before receiving an incredibly violent take” he told us.
“Even though I was poised and ready, it still made me jump out of my skin.”
