A 33-year-old angler from North Yorkshire has hit the pinnacle of UK carp fishing, banking the biggest brace of fish ever landed in the country, coming in at a combined weight of 125lb!

The biggest of the brace was a whopping 64lb common

Fishing Old Mill Lakes Birch Lake in Lincolnshire, Dale Skidmore banked not just one 60lb-plus common, but two, in a session that has cemented him a firm place in the carp fishing history books.

The 64lb and 61lb common carp were just part of a near 30-fish hit for Dale, which included some 40lb-plus mirrors too - an unbelievable session at any venue!

"I've had what only can be described as a horrible 5-6 months, so I was itching to get back to what I love doing and even purchased new rods and reels for the trip," he told us.

"I got to the lake nice and early expecting it to be full, but had a very good choice of swims it turned out."

Whilst most anglers pile in bait at the start of a long session, Dale did quite the opposite, a key tactical choice which rewarded him the record results.

"The rigs were initially deployed with just singles, as I had a plan to redo the rods and bait up at 'daft times', when most anglers would be sleeping," he said.

"It certainly worked, what a trip, I'm still on cloud nine.

"You have sessions in Europe like this, but to do it in the UK is something else."

Dale's incredible haul of UK monster carp fell to Trent Baits Squid boilies fished on Turbo German rigs with JP hooks, OMC Dazzlers and fluro booms - phenomenal angling!
