“I’ve had some memorable days guiding anglers on Chew Valley Lake in Somerset this season, where two of my clients were fortunate enough to bank 30lb pike recently.

“On day one I was out with a chap called Dave Sprotson (pictured below), and we were fishing lures. We had 30 pike between us, his biggest going an immense 33lb 8oz and my best weighing 29lb 10oz.

“The following day I was out with another client, Tom Holbrook (pictured below), and he managed to catch a 37lb 12oz beast on a deadbait!

“Chew is fishing really well this winter, despite what the doom merchants have been saying about it in recent years!”
