Trent produces 'dream' zander

AFTER spending the last few winters fishing the cold, muddy banks of the Trent in search of a big zander, Sheffield angler Ash Morton finally landed his dream fish in the shape of a fine 16lb 1oz specimen.

The predator, which fell to a roach deadbait and is the latest in a run of big zander caught recently by anglers targeting the Midlands river, comfortably beat Ash’s old pb for the species of 11lb, taken a few seasons back.

He told AT that he was beginning to think zander were a bit of a ‘bogey species’ for him, so he’s delighted to have finally become a member of the ‘sixteen’ club.
