THE Trent has been in blistering form for big barbel all season, and it showed no signs of slowing up for Aydon Marshall, who landed this 19lb 6oz fish alongside six other doubles over a two-night session.
The Selby angler had a screaming take on his upstream rod on the second night of his trip, and having already landed three doubles up to that point, he knew this particular fish was something extra-special after taking 30 yards of line on the take.
A dour, half-hour battle in biting winds followed, before Aydon finally slipped his net under what he describes as ‘the fish of a lifetime’.
