“I got off to a really great start on my tench spring campaign the other week, banking this cracking 10lb 11oz fish.

“I targeted the back of a gravel bar situated just beyond a big weedbed at about 60 yards range.

I started the session off by laying down a decent bed of Dynamite Baits Grubby Groundbait, mixed with live and dead maggots, plus a little hemp, which I hoped would get the fish feeding.

“Over the top of this I used a maggot hookbait presented on a helicopter rig, mounted on a size 14 hook and a 7lb fluorocarbon hooklink.

“Once I hooked the fish it put up an incredible fight and, as you can see from the pictures, it’s clearly a bit of an old warrior!”
