DURING a recent trip to the Lake of Menteith Gary McMullen banked this cracking pike of 31lb, which his 10-year-old son Leo was on hand to slip the net under!

The pair were boat fishing in a Pike Anglers Alliance event on the Scottish venue, where they float-legered a mackerel deadbait close to a drop-off on the lakebed.

After a few early ‘doubles’, Gary then connected with what he knew right away was a far bigger fish, and said that as it neared the boat Leo not only netted the fish ‘like a pro’ but also guessed that it’d weigh over 30lb. A true piker in the making!
