“I had a brilliant eel session the other day, landing this 5lb 2oz fish alongside a brace of four-pounders and around 30 smaller ones.
“I retained the fish in a keepnet, hoping to take a photo of the largest brace, but it wasn’t to be, as the eels chewed a hole in the mesh and a load of them escaped! The hole was so big I could fit my hand through it.
“All the fish fell to prawn hookbaits, fished on short hooklinks made from 10lb braid – which I doubled up for extra abrasion-resistance – and size 6 barbless Korum Grappler hooks."
