With more and bigger carp in many of our rivers than ever before, it comes as no surprise that many anglers are beginning to turn their attention away from stillwaters and heading to flowing water in recent years.
The beauty of many stretches is that you never really know what carp might be in there, and while there are known fish to target, the fact they could be miles away from you at any given time, can make the challenge of catching one incredibly difficult.
Finleigh Carson is one such carp angler who has dedicated a lot of time to his local river over the last few years, finally being rewarded for his efforts with this cracking 30lb 4oz mirror.
“I headed to the River Medway for a 24-hour session, my last one targeting carp this year.
“I fished a big piece of Peperami and half a pink pop-up on a hair rig, and an hour later, my bite alarm screamed off.
“At first I thought I’d connected with a barbel so, when this large mirror surfaced, I quickly grabbed the net!
“It was a special fish, and one I’ve been after for four years.”
