A WELL–KNOWN actor is heading up a new drive to empower and educate anglers on how best to protect local fisheries and increase public recognition of our ‘guardians of the waterways’ status.

As awareness of water pollution issues continues to grow, Jim Murray – who plays Prince Andrew in The Crown – has thrown his weight behind the ‘Activist Angler’ initiative and feels the critical role fishermen play in reporting these incidents has been overshadowed.

“A single person can make a real difference. A little drive and passion translate into a lot of action, which is needed now more than ever,” he said. “Anglers are the eyes and ears of our waterways. If we unite and become more active in our roles as guardians, we will force the change our rivers are screaming out for.”
