Surprise WINTER CATFISH falls to 'bomb and bread'

ANDY DYSON is usually seen rubbing shoulders with match fishing’s elite, but last week he inadvertently took a first step into the specimen angling world by landing this 27lb 10oz catfish.

The 2022 Fish O’Mania runner-up was having a rare pleasure fishing session on West Sooty Lake at The Old Hough Fishery with his best mate, who’s an avid carp angler. Andy was using the classic winter tactic of ‘bomb and bread’, dipped in Goo, when he connected with something substantial.

“At first I thought I was snagged up, but then it started to move!” he told us.

“It’s the first catfish I’ve ever caught, and was great fun to play on my bomb rod!”
