There can’t be many matches where four anglers hit a ton of bream and roach, but Essex venue Southend Farm has been in sparkling form.
Winner Ricky Martinelli had a colossal 119lb in a recent contest, while Lewis Fenton said that he “couldn’t get through the roach on pellets!”, with his 101lb only worth third.
“I’ve never seen a fishery like it,” said match organiser Damian Curtis. “60lb-70lb bags don’t even make the frame. There are so many quality bream in there that the carp can’t muscle in!”
Such huge catches are far from a rarity at the venue, with Browning’s Paul Hyde taking a superb 215lb net last summer.
