Adam Bassimeh recently proved just how productive short sessions can be when he landed this huge 4lb 2oz perch from a local river.

He told Angling Times:
“With just half-an-hour of daylight remaining, I grabbed my lure kit and headed to a local stretch of river that I know holds a few slacks.
“I crept up to one of them on my knees to avoid spooking anything holding up in the slower-flowing water and cast a Ned Rig tight to a snag before delicately bouncing it back towards me.
“It wasn’t long before I felt a slam on the lure, followed by tell-tale headshakes, and instantly I knew I was into a good fish.
“Fighting hard, the perch did me in a snag, but to my surprise it swam out and surfaced.
“My legs went to jelly as I slipped the net under a PB-obliterating stripey weighing 4lb 2oz.”
