While many rivers in London are in a far better state today than they once were, certain species still remain a rarity… such as this large sea trout!

It was landed by Roman Jaycee, who was targeting pike on London Docks at the time. Roman was retrieving an 18cm-long articulated swimbait, when he noticed a shadow following it.

“I realised it wasn’t a pike but a huge trout chasing the lure!” said Roman.

“Staying calm, I twitched the bait to mimic a dying fish and, as it neared the bank, I began a figure-of- eight motion, and the fish seized it! The trout was powerful, but on pike tackle, I was soon able to net it.

"After a few pictures I safely released the fish, leaving me with a host of unforgettable memories!”

THE BEST LURE RODS ARE PERFECT FOR CATCHING EVERYTHING FROM PIKE TO TROUT.

A cracking fish and a real surprise for Roman
