FORMER Drennan Cup winner, Darryn Stolworthy banked the biggest tench of the season so far – this beast of

12lb 2oz. The Norfolk rod fished a Cambridgeshire pit that had produced just one tench all year, to a carp angler. But Darryn wasn’t put off by this, and landed one smaller fish and lost another before hooking into the 12-pounder.

It’s the same fish caught by Dai Gribble a few years ago at 14lb 14oz, and had Darryn caught it a few weeks earlier, before it had spawned, he reckons it would have been even heavier than it was.

Maggot feeders cast over a small amount of feed at 50 yards, using a worm kebab on the hook, did the damage.
