The word close doesn’t do justice to how tight the result of this year’s Angling Times/Bait-Tech Supercup Final was, with both Scunthorpe Pisces and Cornstores Tackle finishing locked together on 34 points each!
That meant section countback came into play, Scunthorpe getting the nod with a lone second in section to leave them ecstatic and Cornstores wondering what could have been.

The man to take that second place was Graham Bontoft on the Warren Pool at Meadowlands Fishery, backed by a third in section from skipper Jack Turner, two sixths from Dave Lloyd and Steve Curtis at Barston Lakes, an eighth from Lee Grimblebyand nine points from Scott Brough.
Individually, peg 1 on the Lambsdown Lake at Meadowlands was fancied to do the damage and so it did, but not with a massive weight. Caterpillar AC’s Simon Jeffery bagged 185-3-0 to win, top weight at Barston going to Team Martin’s Jay Martin with 145-12-0 from peg 19 on the river bank.
