A KIND-HEARTED schoolboy has just cast an almighty 36,960yds to raise money that will be used to encourage more kids to take up fishing.

Keen carp angler Rowan Bennington (10) is an ambassador for ‘Carp4Kids’ – an organisation that offers events designed to get more children on the bank – and decided to raise funds for the cause by casting the width of the English Channel – some 21 miles – over multiple sessions.

His dad Scott said:

“He clipped up at 50yds and did 50 casts per session. It took 740 casts over 14 sessions, but Rowan managed to complete the distance and in doing so raised a massive £2,030. He hopes to inspire more kids to take up fishing, and hopefully they’ll get as much enjoyment out of it as he does.”
