Raft of doubles in mega tench haul

FORMER double Drennan Cup champ Dai Gribble enjoyed the kind of tench session most of us could only dream of last week. He racked up an amazing haul of 21 fish, including two weighing 11lb 6oz apiece, two other double-figure specimens, and four more over the 9lb-barrier.

The 58-year old from Stafford was targeting a Home Counties gravel pit with his tried-and-trusted feeder-fished worm tactics, and revealed how he had the first ‘eleven’ resting in his landing net when his other rod roared off - the culprit being a 9lb 10oz fish. Incredibly, he then repeated the ‘double-take’ feat with his second 11-pounder, which he was just in the process of photographing when a 10lb 5oz fish took the hookbait on his other rod.

He beat all his fish using size 10 Talon Tip wide gape hooks, 12lb Gardner GT HD mainline and hooklinks made from
10lb Hydro Flo mono.
