Jack Perks project reaches fundraising target

£30,000 raised for 'Blue Planet' style film on British fish

Generous anglers have helped an underwater film maker reach his fundraising goal to create a cinematic look at the nation’s fish.

Cameraman Jack Perks hit his £30,000 target this month to enable him to create a film called Britain’s Hidden Fishes, which will aim to capture sea and freshwater species as they’ve never been seen before.

The goal was met thanks in part to an auction of trips with top anglers including Chris Yates (winning bid £720) and Rich Wilby (£850).

Jack, who has already secured Jeremy Wade as narrator, set himself two months to raise the cash to fund the not-for-profit film, which is set to be shown for free online.

He said:

“We raised £10,000 in the first week, but then it stagnated for a month before picking up again in the last week. I’m very grateful to everyone who has donated.”

Filming will begin in May and is expected to last two years.
