GRAYLING are famed for feeding in the cold, but while that can be a blessing on some occasions, on others it requires some serious drive to keep fishing when the mercury takes a dive.
But that’s just what Laurence Skinner did on a freezing day on a big Scottish river, ending his quest for a three-pounder with this fine fish weighing 3lb on the nose.
After spending most of the day cooped up in his car with the heating on full blast, Laurence finally braved the banks just as the light started to fade.
Trotting with white maggots, he hooked the fish at the bottom of a long run before slowly working it back towards his waiting net.
