A RARE and unusual fish that shatters the world record has been caught from Dever Springs fishery in Hampshire.

Andy Ford, co-presenter of On The Bank TV show on BT Sport, was stalking at the water when he hooked and landed an 11lb 15oz sparctic trout – fully 2lb bigger than the current record.

The fish is a cross between a brook trout and an Arctic char and is a highly sought-after species among fly anglers.

“It fought like nothing I’ve ever hooked,” said Andy.

“It was strong and meant business. I’m submitting a claim with the International Game Fishing Association, but the best bit is that we caught it on film, and you’ll be able to watch it on BT Sport in May.”
