Daniel Woolcott got his winter roach campaign off to a brilliant start when he banked this cracking 3lb 1oz gravel pit fish.
Fishing to a spot roughly 50 yards out, the Kent-based specialist introduced a bed of groundbait, hemp and maggots, before presenting white maggots on a short fluorocarbon hooklink over the top.
Dan said he knew he was connected to a big roach from the moment he struck, with the fish giving him a nervy battle, kiting and headshaking as it neared the bank.
