No angler looks to catch the same fish twice, but Jason Elliott wasn't complaining when he met this giant Trent chub for the second time.
He told Angling Times:
“I’ve been doing a lot of short sessions on the River Trent, and I’d been baiting a swim just off the rod tip in an 8ft deep hole while I fished my other rods out in the flow. After landing a barbel and a surprise dace, I dropped onto the baited area. 20 minutes later, the tip nodded before banging over, and I struck into a fish that led me on a merry dance around the snags.
“When I finally had it in the net, I initially thought it was a carp in the poor light, but when I turned the headtorch on I saw it was an immense chub. It weighed 7lb 12oz and is the same fish I caught back in 2019 at 8lb 2oz. What a stunning summer specimen – just incredible.”
