FORMER Drennan Cup champion Rich Wilby has caught a few big roach in his time but, until recently, he’d never managed a three-pounder on the float.
That all changed, however, on a recent afternoon visit to a Norfolk stillwater, where he made the most of good conditions to bank this belting 3lb 1oz fish.
Rich didn’t fish far out, and used waggler and maggot tactics with a size 18 hook and 2lb line.
He said the fish gave him a great scrap on the light set-up before he slipped the net under his prize.
