(This catch was reported before the river close season came into force on March 15th 2022)

“With the pike fishing slow due to coloured water, I decided to pick up the pole to pass the time.

“I was fishing a place called Brayford Pool, a natural lake formed by a widening of the River Witham in Central Lincoln.

“Hooking two red maggots on a size 18 hook and 2lb line, I ended up catching this massive rudd, weighing 3lb 3oz!

“I had another four rudd between 1lb and 1lb 8oz. I was well chuffed! Not a bad result while waiting for a pike.”
