Monster chub banked from 'under the radar' stretch

FINDING a quiet stretch of river is hard these days, but Waltham Abbey angler Paul Faint did just that and hit the jackpot with this 8lb 1oz chub.

After locating an intimate part of the River Lea that hardly gets fished due to limited access, Paul returned later that day with his chub gear for a quick evening session.

Following a biteless few hours, Paul’s quivertip eventually slowly pulled over to signal the start of what proved a hectic battle before he could eventually slip his prize over the net cord.

At 8lb 1oz, it’s a new PB for Paul from the Lea, and fell to breadflake on a size 8 hook fished below a small cage feeder packed with liquidised feed.
