AFTER seeing a huge perch follow his lure all the way to the bank before turning away, Marek Nieweglowski switched patterns and was rewarded with this superb 4lb 8oz Grand Union Canal perch.
He carried on casting to the same spot, this time with a Korum Squirmz – a soft plastic pattern that can be worked along the deck.
After retrieving it very slowly, Marek’s rod suddenly hooped round, and he knew right away that he was into the same big perch, which tried in vain to gain the sanctuary of a nearby barge before he could steer it into the net.
