MATCH angler Joe Carass became the envy of many specimen anglers recently, when he banked two huge chub from the River Nene - topped by this 7lb 4oz specimen.
He told Angling Times:
“The lack of matches through lockdown has been difficult for some, me included, but I saw it as an opportunity to try something new and so I embarked on a chub fishing expedition.
“Targeting the River Nene around Northampton, I had a great run of fish over the winter, but I could never have predicted what would happen over two short recent sessions.
“First, I landed a PB 7lb 2oz chub, before returning just four days later to land this deep fish of 7lb 4oz! It came on my very first cast and belted the tip round.
“I love this style of fishing, and it’s been a welcome break from the intense match fishing world.”
