THE biggest river chub of the season has just been banked weighing 8lb 3oz
Essex angler Peter Davies was targeting the famous Kings Weir Fishery on the River Lea, and tempted the fish on a homemade paste hookbait, fished in conjunction with a link leger set-up.
Conditions were tricky, with the river low and clear, and after trying a few swims with no success Peter dropped into what he described as ‘a classic chub swim’ as darkness drew in.
After some finicky bites, his rod hooped over. After an intense fight he netted it first time.
