Last Lea trip produces PB perch

Darrell Carter ends Lea journey with a high

Lea perch

by Angling Times |

On one of his last trips fishing the River Lea, lure fishing fanatic Darrell Carter landed this personal-best perch weighing 4lb 10oz.

“After 15 years in the area I’m moving back to Shropshire soon, so thought it’d be nice to go out on a high,” he told us.

“Arriving at the river at first light, I didn’t have much success fishing with a crankbait, so I changed to a crayfish imitation and soon connected with what I could feel was a heavy fish.

“At first I thought it was a pike, so I was amazed to see this huge perch appear from the depths!”
