ONE cast was all it took for Ben Fairweather to catch this massive 7lb 13oz chub right at the end of the river season.
He told Angling Times:
“After keeping an eye on the water levels of my local Dorset Stour, I embarked on a short session as the river dropped and began to clear.
“I was using a boilie hookbait, and decided to just make one cast with a bolt rig, being prepared to sit it out and wait for a big fish to hopefully slip up.
“Just as the sun dipped, I connected with a good fish that really beat me up in the fight and headed for snags downstream. Thankfully, by keeping the pressure on I managed to turn the wily old warrior! It was a magnificent fish weighing 7lb 13oz.”
