BIG eels are known for their fighting qualities, and this six-pounder certainly lived up to that billing when Alan Jump connected with it in the early hours of the morning.
Targeting a stillwater near his home in North Devon, Alan fished a dead roach on a Dyson Rig, with a size 4 hook and 12lb mainline. When he picked up the rod, the fish took line off the reel before embedding itself in a weedbed. With steady pressure, Alan managed to free it, and despite fishing the venue for many years, he was amazed at the size of the fish, which shattered the venue record by 2lb.
