THIS 11lb 4oz tench, caught by Dai Gribble from a pit in East Anglia, is the first double the two-time Drennan Cup champ has landed this season, having come agonisingly close with two at 9lb 15oz apiece on a previous session.
It came about after the Stafford specialist switched swims twice in six hours having spotted fish rolling in other parts of the lake. In three nights he took 16 tench, including one other over 9lb.
All fell to worms mounted on size 10 hooks and short coated braid hooklinks, fished alongside inline swimfeeders filled with chopped worms, red maggots and peat. He targeted a gulley between two weedbeds for the ‘eleven’.
