Andy Waters’ kicked off his spring campaign at a Norfolk lake in fine fashion by banking this bream weighing 16lb 9oz.
Having fished the venue the weekend prior for tench, Andy noticed a few large bream showing, so on his next trip he changed tactics to target them specifically.
After feeding a bed of corn and pellets, Andy cast Method feeders paired with wafter hookbaits over the top.
On the first night of his trip, he was stirred by a single bleep on his alarms and, as he stepped out of his bivvy to investigate, his right-hand rod ripped off! Expecting the fish to be a tench after the aggressive take, Andy played it quickly into the shallows.
However, in the light of his headtorch, he realised he had hooked his target species, and a good one at that. The buzz of the capture kept Andy awake for the rest of the night!
