Future of famous fishing waters in doubt

The fishing on three hugely popular midlands reservoirs has been thrown into jeopardy, much to the sadness of thousands of anglers.

Draycote, Eyebrook and Thornton Reservoirs were managed by Fishery Management Limited, but when the company’s director,

Ifor Jones, tragically died in January this year, the business was found to be heavily in debt. As a result, the decision was made to put it into voluntary liquidation.

Although known primarily for trout fishing, these waters were also popular among the predator angling community.

“This isn’t the news any of us would want to hear regarding the business and the prospects for fly fishing Draycote, Eyebrook or Thornton reservoirs,” the interim management say.

“While indeed this brings to an end a chapter in fly fishing that has touched many people’s lives, including our own, we do not believe it will ultimately be the end of fly fishing on these waters.”
