‘Football-sized’ perch landed on first Grafham fishing trip

As one of the UK’s most in-form perch venues, there can be few better places to head for than Grafham Water in search of a PB, and Romain Herath did just that to bank this fine 4lb 12oz specimen.

It was the Leicestershire angler’s first time on the venue, and he used lure tactics in a bid to cover as much water as possible, choosing to fish a creature bait slowly, with very little movement, and relying on the rocking of the boat and the drift to gently move the lure up and down.

After a few hours Romain felt a small bump on the line and struck into what he expected to be a zander. But, to his delight, a ‘football-sized’ perch surfaced!

It weighed 4lb 12oz and measured 45cm.
