A new top-flight concept in match fishing gets underway today 20th April 2026 as the Fishub Premier League begins at Tunnel Barn Farm. The new competition will be decided across four rounds, with later matches scheduled for Messingham Sands, Hayfield Lakes and Monkhall Fishery.

Fishub’s format is built to reward consistency, with anglers competing in sections of 10 and points awarded from 10 for a win down to one for 10th. The title will be decided on total points, with combined weight used as the first tie-break before a one-hour fish-off if needed. Anglers are also allowed one stand-in during the season, which could give other top-flight names an early taste of the league and, in time, a reason to target it for themselves.

The 20-man field for the opening campaign is Andy Bennett, Andy Power, Brad Lucas, Craig Edmunds, Dale Shepherd, Dean Lock, Harry Bignall, James Howarth, Jamie Hughes, Jimmy Brooks, John Harvey, Jordan Holloway, Lee Thornton, Mikey Williams, Paul Holland, Pete Upperton, Robbie Taylor, Steve Forster, Tom Edwards and Tom Scholey.

Fishub is already inviting anglers to register interest for future leagues from 2027 onwards as it looks at expanding the format and deciding how many divisions it can run. If that develops as planned, this could mark the start of a more structured chapter for match fishing, with clearer progression, a format that is easier to follow, and a stronger platform for sponsors and newcomers to buy into.

Full results and reaction will appear in next week’s issue of Angling Times.
