An organisation that uses fishing to help those facing mental health issues, addiction recovery and social isolation has been presented with the King’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest accolade such an organisation can receive in the UK.

Tackling Minds, founded in 2020 by Dave Lyons, was recognised for its outstanding contribution at a formal ceremony that was held last week at The Monastery, in Manchester, where the city’s borough Mayors as well as its Lord-Lieutenant and Vice Lord-Lieutenant were in attendance.

“This award belongs to our volunteers,” Dave said.

“They turn up week in, week out, giving up their spare time to support others. This recognition shows just how powerful that support is.”
