Robert Croft smashed his personal best roach recently with this 3lb 5oz "fish of a lifetime" from a local stillwater.
He told Angling Times:
“I’ve been fishing a local syndicate for months, trying to locate the small shoals of large roach that inhabit it, but without any success. One clear cold evening I spotted some fish rolling in an area, so decided to target them the next day.
“Arriving at midday, I set up a couple of maggot heli rigs and settled into what I expected to be another blank session, when out of the blue the indicator dropped back. Immediately, I lifted into it and thought I’d connected with a perch or a small tench. When it surfaced, I realised it was a huge roach. The fish weighed 3lb 5oz and smashed my previous PB.”
