Boilies are by far the most popular bait in carp fishing, whether it be a fishmeal, nut based or something else, there is an option for every eventuality and every angler has their favourite. However, every now and then, it’s time for a change, whether results start to dip, your confidence starts to dwindle, or you just fancy trying something new. Sometimes, these changes can pay off in a big way, as 15-year-old Kylan Peck discovered on his latest session when he banked this enormous common carp.
Fishing with his dad, the father-son duo have been tackling a tricky syndicate near their home this season, but despite fishing well, they had very little to show for their efforts. Realising it was time for a change, they decided to try the new OMC iScream bait, and on their very first session with it, the results spoke for themselves, as they banked five fish using the new bait.

Kylan couldn’t wait to get back down to the lake with his dad after their previous session, and with his enthusiasm at an all-time high, he was hoping to emulate their results, but he had little idea about what was going to unfold this time around.
Much the same as the last session the pair got off to a great start landing a couple of nice fish on the OMC iScream wafters. However, Kylan's next bite was very slow and deliberate and when he picked up the rod, he knew straight away that it was something special. The fish felt much bigger than anything he’d hooked before, slowly plodding around the swim, and at first, Kylan couldn’t do much to control it, he just had to stay calm and allow the fight to play out.
After a memorable battle, his dad managed to shuffle the carp into the waiting landing net. They knew it was a good fish, but when they pulled back the mesh to have a better look they were in shock, neither of them could believe what they had just landed. Kylan was shaking with excitement, and his dad was over the moon, sharing an incredible moment on the bank together, which is what fishing is all about.
After unhooking the fish and allowing it to rest in the margins while they calmed down, they got everything ready to weigh it. When they placed the fish on the scales, the needle settled at 48lb 13oz, leaving the pair in disbelief. The fish was later identified as Patch, one of the biggest and most sought after fish in their lake!
